How to Buy a Love of Reading - Tanya Egan Gibson This was a strange book. Did I like it, did I not like it? I got it from the YA section at the AADL, but I think it might have a better audience in the Adult section. Sure, the main character is a teenager, but themes of literary and social classism, pseudo-intellectualism, and the fact that the story-within-a-story is like a metanovel-within-a-metanovel, make it more for the self-aware English major. Hey that's me! The relationship between the main character Carley and her friend Hunter pulls the story along, but I kept wanting to punch Carley for still being friends with him.
I read somewhere that the book is The Great Gatsby meets Gossip Girl. That sounds about right. Make of it what you will.
