I realize I may not have liked this book as much if I had read it in the middle of the day instead of into the wee smalls, which is an emotional time of day and may cause me to over-like a book. On the other hand, I couldn't put it down. I am really frustrated that ALL of the male characters are so wishy-washy and unacting, and the females don't expect more of them. That in fact, Rand apologizes to her ex-boyfriend at the end for expecting anything from him. It is probably too much to ask of the guy who knocked you up not to cold-shoulder and gossip about you and sleep with your friends. And it is probably too much to ask of your dad that he not let your mom verbally abuse you and to not spend six years hiding in the basement.
