The World of Downton Abbey is what it sounds like: an overview of the time period and inspirations of Downton Abbey, with a little behind the scenes thrown in. My one quibble is with the gaping hole where Tom Branson should be. It seems the author, like the Earl himself, would rather just forget the kid. The book skips over the revolutionary period in Ireland and - in the section on romance! - does not even mention the likelihood of a romance like Tom and Sybil's. It does mention Tom's car, but mostly in connection with Edith learning to drive it, and not about what it was like to be a chauffeur or an Irish person in service or anything at all.
